Brian serves as the director of Maryland’s southern region Small Business Development Center (SBDC), hosted by CSM. In addition to administering the program, he oversees a team of experienced business counselors serving entrepreneurs in Charles, St. Mary’s and Calvert counties. Prior to coming to CSM’s SBDC office, Brian was the director of small business development for the Detroit Regional Economic Development Partnership, and previously worked for the SBDC office in Moab, Utah. He holds a bachelor of science in consumer studies and small business marketing from the University of Vermont and a master of science and administration in entrepreneurship and administration from St. Michaels College.

Linda has been an SBDC counselor for 11 years. She assists clients in the areas of business expansion, marketing and building a hybrid business. "By working as a team, my clients have achieved their goals. It takes hard work to develop a marketing plan and produce professional advertising materials. I brainstorm with the client and help carry out their ideas using area resources and collective knowledge." She reviews client print and electronic media and the helps businesses develop a unique selling proposition. Linda has a master of science degree in electronic commerce from the University of Maryland University College, Graduate school of Management and Technology.

Bill has an extensive background in small business lending in Southern Maryland, having held key management positions in both large and small commercial banks for 20 years. He is knowledgeable about financing options, loan structures, SBA loan programs including 7(a) and 504, financial projections, business evaluations, marketing and management assistance. His “hands-on” management in a true small business - a community bank – provided major insights. Bill joined the SBDC in May 2000. He has utilized his experience and expertise to benefit entrepreneurs and small businesses in the region.
Bill has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Accounting from Salisbury University in Maryland. Bill is also a graduate of the Graduate School of Retail Bank Management at the Darden School of Business, University of Virginia.

Maria joined the SBDC in 2006 where she counsels clients with their start-up ideas, business plans, strategic goals and market research. She is an advocate for small business in Calvert County and works closely with partner organizations to bring all available resources to her clients. She comes from a background of working with the small and medium-sized business community. In her previous position at the U.S. Department of Commerce's International Trade Administration, she assisted businesses in developing strategies for exporting products and services overseas and also worked on bilateral trade issues in an effort to help small U.S. companies gain greater access to foreign markets. Maria has an M.A. in International Relations from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and a B.B.A. from Loyola College in Baltimore.
