On October 20, 2016, the Calvert County Chamber of Commerce recognized Heather Maertens, owner of Maertens Fine Jewelry & Gifts in Lusby MD, as the 2016 "Chamber Member of the Year".
When initially considering this business idea, Heather Maertens utilized SBDC consulting assistance starting in February 2002. Her skills and past experience in the industry put her in an excellent position to reach this goal. In October 2002, the business opened in Solomons MD. In late 2010, the business relocated to the current location in a new retail center just a few miles north in Lusby MD. *Located in the Lusby Commons Shopping Center (Giant), where HG Trueman and Rousby Hall roads meet. We are across from Hallmark.
Heather Maertens has continued interaction with the SBDC over the past 14 years. As a totally committed entrepreneur, Heather has also found key staff to support her business. She effectively used her vision to create customized jewelry and has filled a market niche being based in southern Calvert County. The 2016 Calvert Chamber Award recognizes her contributions to the business and local community that Maertens Fine Jewelry & Gifts serves.
