Earth & Tree, LLC, located at 884 Blocher Road, Frostburg, Maryland is a private company which provides comprehensive tree removal and lawn maintenance services. Established in 2003, Earth & Tree is a female-owned company by Glenne Blocher. Initial inquiries with the SBDC were sought as a means to analyze a business validation to determine feasibility of continued operation. Mark Malec, Consultant with the SBDC, analyzed financials to determine whether succession/exit planning for the business and/or selling the business were viable options. Ms. Blocher and Mr. Malec discussed USDA Borrowing and Loan Guarantees and the possibility of restructuring debt to improve cash flow.

After the addition of new business partners, Mark used the new data to assess loan to value calculations along with the Debt Coverage Analysis. Mr. Malec helped keep the company afloat through a debt work-out deal with Corporate Turnaround. He also helped with company merger to bring added cash flow and borrowing ability. Glenne has been an active client with the SBDC for the past nine years and is very appreciative of the services of the SBDC. She says, “Mark Malec is one sharp consultant. He has a lot of courage.
